Welcome to the world of fish that is so well known in the Triangle Area as “Fish World.” Fish World has been proudly serving the Triad Area for the past 18 years and just celebrated our 19th Birthday! We pride ourselves on providing great customer service and creating “Aquariums that Work.” Because of our great success, we have been able to build an incredible new facility that houses over 10,000 gallons (in over 450 tanks) of aquatic livestock. That’s triple the livestock capacity of our original store!
If you are looking for the perfect aquatic environment for your home or office, look no further. You’ll definitely find it at Fish World! Whether it’s a freshwater eco-system, an outside pond or a small “slice of the ocean,” we’ve got you covered. Check out our store photos in the photo gallery for a brief glimpse of what we’re about, but remember, nothing can compare to actually coming in person. Click here for directions to our store.

Remembering Back…. By Jeff Voet
Back in 1988, my wife Kathy and I dreamed of opening the largest Aquarium store the Raleigh Area has ever seen. We were totally hooked on the concept and I continued to spend all our hard-earned money (we were newlyweds) on saltwater fish from the local aquarium store that I then worked for part-time. We had both recently graduated from NC State University – me with a Civil Engineering degree (plus an architectural design degree from Wake Tech), and her with an Accounting degree. When we told our parents about our dreams, they thought we were crazy! We were persistent and never gave up! In late 1990, we opened our first store and by early 1991 we were fully up and running. What a great 16-year adventure we’ve been on since then, and we wouldn’t change a thing! We have been blessed beyond measure by the new friendships we’ve made and by doing something we love. My wife has always said “Choose a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” She was right! We love what we do, we love our customers and we love our staff! And it shows when you enter our store. It’s that simple.
More about the family behind the scenes…
The Voet family has a lot of fun behind the scenes when they are not working day and night. They are a Christian family who believes in hard work, honesty and integrity. Jeff is a full-time “Fishy” type of person. When he’s not working hard for Fish World, he’s out in the ocean waiting for the next big wave. His rare-fish collecting habits and love for surfing have taken him and his family all over the country; their favorite spot is Hawaii! Their next big trip is coming up, so watch out for an awesome selection of hand-picked fish (yes, by Jeff himself)! He’s befriended many fish collectors over the years and they love to take him shopping. Jeff’s main hobbies and interests include rare-fish collecting, surfing, traveling and playing church softball.

Kathy loves working behind the scenes at Fish World. She’s the money person and makes everything work, but is hardly ever seen. She also enjoys the fish hobby and has been known to rearrange Jeff’s home coral tanks on occasion (so the colors look right). Her main hobbies and interests are traveling, reading, scrap-booking and gardening or landscaping.
Most of the couple’s weekends are spent accompanying their daughter Danielle to the next “big” horse show. Danielle is an avid equestrian with a terrific show horse named “My Lady Patches.” Danielle and Patches have won many awards over the last few years!
The Family’s life Motto: “Keep your dreams big and your worries small!”
